The Broadside Series

The Institute initiated publication of a series of broadsides in 1993. Each broadside features a passage from the work of a recognized regional author, combined with the finest craftsmanship in printing, to produce a collector's print--numbered and signed by both author and printer. Each broadside is released in association with a public reading by the author on the NDSU campus.

	Broadside No. 1: She Said Yeah, by Kathleen Norris Issued in celebration of a lecture and reading by Kathleen Norris (poet and author of Dakota: A Spiritual Geography) at NDSU on January 20, 1993. This was the first publication of the poem by Norris. Gaylord Schanilec, designer and printer. Price: $15.00
	Broadside No. 2: Saskatchewan, by Sharon Butala Issued in celebration of a lecture and reading by Sharon Butala (novelist and essayist from Eastend, Saskatchewan) at NDSU on January 19, 1994. This was the first publication of the prose passage by Butala. Gaylord Schanilec, designer and printer. Price: $15.00
	Broadside No. 3: Consciousness, by Lois Hudson Issued in celebration of a lecture and reading by Lois Hudson (author of Reapers of the Dust, The Bones of Plenty) at NDSU on January 18, 1995. This was the first publication of the poem by Hudson. Jerry Richardson, designer and printer. Price: $15.00
	Broadside No. 4: The Persistent Frontier, by Howard R. Lamar Issued in celebration of the Catherine Cater Lecture in the Humanities presented by Dr. Lamar on March 29, 1995. The prose passage was reprinted (with permission of the Western Historical Quarterly) from his presidential address to the Western History Association in 1972.
